This is a Bible app with a difference.

You can read the ancient Crown of Aleppo direct from hi-resolution images of the ancient pages of the codex.

This will give you a much more authentic feel to your bible reading and study.

In addition, this app will allow the user to more easily engage with the ancient Biblical texts because of the ease of use indexing.

This allows the user to find a chapter & verse much more easily than would be possible via flat files such as .pdf and/or image files.

The Book of Joshua from the Aleppo Codex is the first in a planned series of texts which the user will be able to navigate in the same way.

How to use the app:

1. Navigate through the Aleppo Codex using standard book, chapter & verse selections.

2. Select a section in the image by touching the screen - the app will find the appropriate verse in the verse list as a reading aid.

3. Select a verse from the verse list as a navigation aid into the text - the app will find the relevant section in the image.

4. Select a translation which you will use to interact with the text:
1) Aleppo Hebrew
2) Leningrad Hebrew,
3) Modern Hebrew,
4) KJV,
5) Luther 1545,
6) Elberfelder

Why build this app?

The idea behind this app is to assist the novice reader or more engaged scholar to read the ancient texts in a convenient way on iPhone or iPad.

Dedication:
this app is dedicated to the Jewish community of Aleppo who for centuries kept the invaluable Codex safe and without whom we would be unable to now investigate its hidden jewels.
